Altona Mrs. Helen L. Young, 87, of Forge Street in Altona, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born on November 10, 1923 in Central Lake, Michigan, the daughter of the late John W. and Corinne (Compau) McLaughlin. Helen was a member of the Altona Fire Department Ladies Auxillary and Holy Angels Church. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew S. Young, a brother, Lewis McLaughlin, his wife Maxine, and a sister Jean Crawford. Helen is survived by a son Christopher Young and his wife Kathryn of Rouses Point, a daughter Diana Clark and her husband Wayne of Palmdale, Ca., two sisters; Carolyn Jackson of Norwood, Missouri, and Barbara Aenis of Elkhart, Indiana, her sisters in law; Palmina Boyd and Joyce Young of Altona, and Irene Young of Plattsburgh, a brother in law: Bernard Young of Falmouth, Mass., her grandson Eric Young and his wife Kimberly, their children Nichole and Cody, a granddaughter Kerry Young and fiancé Aenis Thornton III, grandsons Jason and Devon Clark; his wife Lisa and their son Jordan, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
