Henry J. Bedard, 89, of Fiske Road in West Chazy, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at his home. Henry was born on September 9, 1933 on his parents farm , the son of the late Joseph and Rosa (Martin) Bedard.
He attended West Chazy Elementary School and then graduated from M.A.I. in 1951. He then went to Cornell University for a course in animal husbandry. Upon completion, he worked for the Clinton County Dairy Herd Improvement Association. When he was of age, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the “Old Guard” at Fort Meyers, Va. For 2 years. After being discharged, he joined the Teamsters Union and worked on the construction of Plattsburgh Air Force Base for Cooney Brothers as a concrete truck driver.
After that, he went to work at Plattsburgh Ready Mix as a dispatcher and then to Murnane Associates on the college campus and then went to work for Nor-Co Concrete as the dispatcher for 20 years where he retired. He was a firefighter for the West Chazy Fire Department for many years and served as Commisioner.
He is survived by his wife Sue and 3 sons; Stephen, Brian and James and their companions. He is also survived by 3 stepsons Christopher, Michael and Jeffrey Smallarz and their wives, 3 sisters; Irene Williams, Rose Ducharme and Jean Depo, a brother in law; James Beaubriand and 4 grandchildren; Marah Dashnaw, Holly, Isabella and Gaven Bedard, and a great granddaughter Wren Dashnaw.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters; Theresa Giroux and Rita Lushia, a brother Andrew Bedard, a stepson; Floyd “Butch” Smallarz, 5 brothers in law; Leo Giroux, Emery Lushia, Roswell Depo, Bernard Ducharme and Robert Williams, Sr. and a sister in law Rosie Bedard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Josephs Church in West Chazy or the West Chazy Fire Department..
