Herbert E. Geroux, 92 of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 at the McClure-Miller Respite Home in Colchester, Vermont.
He is the son of Julius and Leah Giroux, born on August 25, 1928 in Chazy, NY, and the beloved husband of the late Doris A. (Bouvia) Geroux whom he married on August 25, 1948. They were married for 51 loving years.
Although Herby was a jack-of-all-trades, he was a truck driver for most of his life. He drove for Copeland Oil, Metropolitan Oil, Pittston Oil and Ultramar where he retired after 40 years of service with a safety driving record of zero accidents.
He loved his family dearly. He loved making people laugh and he loved his cheeseburgers!
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie (Patrick) henry and Robin (David) Burgess, both of Plattsburgh, three grandchildren, Colleen (Gregg) Lester, Lisa (Terry) Cech both of Plattsburgh and Khristopher (Emily) Clukey of Saranac, seven great-grandchildren, Ashley (Claudiane) Lester of Maryland, Amanda (P.J.) Miller, Courtney Lester, Bradley, Steven and Matthew Cech, Danielle Clukey and fiancé Tyler Ashline and a great-great grandson, Riley Palmer all of Plattsburgh, two brothers, Robert (Sandy) Giroux of Buffalo, NY, Alvin (Betty) Giroux of Clarkston, MI, four sisters, Barbara Gilman, Linda House, both of Plattsburgh, Helen (Robert) Ethier of Chazy, NY Judy (Mike) Allen of Buffalo, NY and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Giroux and Augustine Giroux both of Plattsburgh, NY, several nieces and nephews, his loving companion, Monique Dion, his friends at Pine Harbour.
Herby is predeceased in death by his loving wife, Doris, his parents, Julius and Leah Giroux, his brothers, Alfred, Donald and James Giroux, two sisters, Doris Richards and Bernice McTernan, two brothers-in-law Thomas McTernan and Ronald Gilman, and sister-in-law, Eleanor Giroux.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW in Plattsburgh at noon.
