Hugh P "Pete" Hicks Jr

Plattsburgh Hugh "Pete" Hicks Jr, 72, was entered into eternal peace on July 27, 2014, at his home in Plattsburgh with family by his side. Pete was born on March 23, 1942, son of Hugh Hicks, Sr. and Geraldine Dickens Hicks in Plattsburgh, NY. He was a member of the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow. Pete graduated from Dannemora High School and Adirondack Community College. In 1961 and in 1989 he married the former Mary Facteau at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. He served in the Army Reserves 962nd Ordnance Company. His unit was activated for the Berlin Crisis. Pete then served at Fort Devens, MA from October 1961 to August 1962. He was employed by the NYS Department of Correctional Services from 1965 until 2001 retiring as a Correction Lieutenant at Clinton Correctional Facility. He was a very loving and generous person who enjoyed his family, traveling, casinos and playing cards. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for his frequent humorous quotes and affection. Survivors include his wife of Plattsburgh, two sons and two grandsons and one granddaughter, Patrick (Jen) Hicks of Morrisonville, {Shawn, Arianna} Matthew Hicks and his fiancée, Therese of Pompano Beach {Bryce} his mother of Plattsburgh, sisters, Donna (Bob) Broadwell of Morrisonville, Debbie (D. Paul) Bover of Queensbury and Brenda (Paul) Cronk of Plattsburgh, his brothers, Gerald (Daria) Hicks of Queensbury and Bill (Colleen) Hicks of South Glens Falls. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda (Mark) Stiles and brothers-in-law, Mitch (Joyce Ann) Facteau and Guy (Lana) Facteau and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, H. Pete Hicks Sr. and father and mother in law, Clayton and Pauline Facteau. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, and NY 12901. (518) 561-3980.
