Ida L Jacques

Plattsburgh Ida L. Jacques, 101, formerly of Morrison Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on February 24, 1911 the daughter of Frederick C. and Mina A. (Liberty) Jacques. Ida was the valedictorian of the first graduating class of St. Peter's High School after the Grey Nun's left. She was a graduate of the Plattsburgh Normal School and taught at St. Peter's for four years. Ida then went to work for Bothwell Schurr Insurance Agency and the Agency Insurance until her retirement in 1973. After her retirement from the Agency, she then went to work at Plattsburgh State University College in the library from 1973 to 1993. Ida was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Peter's Church, the Regina Maria Retreat League, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Immaculate Chapter 179 and she served on the City of Plattsburgh Planning Board. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Helen Nugent and a brother Herbert Jacques. Ida is survived by three nieces; Marcia Carron of Keeseville, Martha Jackson and her husband William of Ausable Forks, Katherine Scales and her husband Richard of Pottersville, PA, one nephew Christopher Carron of Plattsburgh, several great nieces and great nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. only at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be at a later date at St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends wishing may have Masses said in her memory.
