Irene G Deyo

Irene G. Deyo, 101, of Park Creek Lane, Churchville, NY and formerly of Hartwell Street, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Friday September 9, 2016 under the care of hospice in Rochester, NY. She was born in Beekmantown, NY on February 6, 1915 the daughter of William and Dora (McCrea) Gilroy. Irene is survived by her daughter Marie Sorenson of Rochester NY; her grand-daughter Lynn Allen of Charlotte, NC; her grand-son Robert Scott Sorenson of Charlotte, NC; her grand-son Robert Deyo and wife Christina of Knoxville, TN; her grand-daughter Jessica Mattice and husband Jeffrey of Rochester, NY; and 11 great-grand children and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Deyo of Plattsburg, NY; her son Robert Deyo and his wife Helen, of NJ; her daughter Cheryl Infante of Rochester, NY. Irene was born on February 6, 1915 in Plattsburgh, NY. Irene and her husband owned a dairy farm on State Route 9 Plattsburg, NY. In the early 1950's they built and operated the Town n' Beach Motel on Route 9. After retirement, they moved to the city of Plattsburgh. In 1992, her husband Edward Deyo passed away. In 2004, Irene moved to Rochester, NY and lived at the Legacy Community. She remained at the independent facility until her death. Irene was a devout Catholic and was dearly loved by her family and she will be especially missed by her daughter Marie Sorenson. Special thanks to hospice and the staff at the Aurora House. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 14, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
