Mr. James D. Demo, 96, of Durand Street in Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home with his daughter by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Massena on September 26, 1927, the son of the late David and Julia (Toth) Demo. Jim was employed as a Corrections Officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora for many years and was a parishioner of the Blessed John XXIII Newman Center and enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Demo of Plattsburgh, a sister; Mary Mosher of Iowa, a sister in law; Susan Demo of Henderson, Nevada, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Valery whom he married at St. John's Church with Msgr. Morris Dwyer celebrating the Mass. He was also predeceased by a son Jimmy Demo, and two brothers; Donald and Joseph Demo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 8 at 11:00 am at the Blessed John XXIII Newman Center. Interment will follow at Divine Mercy cemetery.
