James W Dugan

James Dugan, 88, of Plattsburgh, New York, passed away on June 8, 2021, at home with his family. James was born in Wilmington NY, on February 16, 1933, the son of T. Joseph and Marjorie (Bliss) Dugan. James was a member of Saint Peter's Church. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Education, and a Plattsburgh State College Alumni. He taught in the East Ramapo Central School District for 33 years and worked as a seasonal New York State Park Police Officer. James was an active member of the community either cooking breakfast at the Spring Valley Food Pantry or delivering food to the homebound for Meals on Wheels of Rockland. James enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin and working with his wife, Theresa at their Adirondack Pine Furniture Company in Mooers Forks, the Plattsburgh Farmers Market, as well as shows and markets throughout the Adirondacks. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach. James was predeceased by his wife Theresa (Labarge) Dugan, his parents, and sister Joan Dubay. He is survived by his brother Bliss Dugan and his children, Susan (Kevin), Michael (Kathy) and Patrick Dugan; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael and John Dugan, and Kara Timken and great granddaughter Rae Dugan. James’ family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Anne and Lon at Lily Martin Home Care for the compassionate care they provided. A mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date with a private burial held at St. Ann's Cemetery, Mooers Forks, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
