James J. Fleming, 92, of Stony Acres in West Chazy, NY, passed away on Sunday November 10, 2019 at his home. He was born in Montreal, Canada on March 30, 1927 the son of Thomas and Hanora (Hunt) Fleming.
James served in the Canadian Armed Force during World War II and recently traveled with the North Country Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with fellow American Veterans. He retired after 43 years as a Supervisor with Northern Telecom in Canada. James couldn’t completely retire, he worked for the Press Republican and Amsa Courier Service, traveling around the north country. James was a Detroit Redwings fan and enjoyed watching hockey, photography, traveling, going for drives and spending time with his family.
James was predeceased by his parents; a sister Frances Mullen, and two sons; Gary and Frankie Fleming.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Catherine Fleming, they were married on July 2, 1982, his children; Hugh Fleming, Barbara Harrigan, Tina (Scott) Smith, Donna Fleming, Robert (Wendy) Mesick, Ronald (Marion) Mesick and Kelly (Roger) Roberts, a daughter-in-law Debbie Fleming, seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a special niece Patty Cameron also survive him.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday November 14, 2019 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Donations in James memory may be made to the North Country Honor Flight or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
