James M Gray

Plattsburgh Mr. James Michael Gray, 59, of Algonquin Park Road, Cumberland Head passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on April 18, 1954 the son of Tyler and Marian (McCurry) Gray. James was an architect retiring in 2009 from New York State. He then became Fire Commissioner for the Cumberland Head Fire Department and joined Fessette Realty as an agent. Fondly referred to "Big Jim" by his family, he enjoyed fishing and spending time on Lake Champlain in his boat. Jim was predeceased by his parents Tyler and Marian Gray and a great nephew Matthew Tyler Brault in 1991. He is survived by his siblings; Tyler C. Gray and his wife Lesley of Andes, NY, Ellen Fleming and her husband Thomas of Cumberland Head, M. Susan Morrison and her husband Rev. John Morrison, III, of Brightwaters, Long Island, Nancy Fischer and her husband Jay of Watertown, CT and summer residents of Cumberland Head, his former wife Marlene Gray of Latham, NY, many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with his brother-in-law Rev. John Morrison, III officiating.
