James J. Johnson

James J. Johnson, 86 , Cedarwood Lane of Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born in Chasm Falls, NY on June 26th, 1937 , the son of James and Rita (Raynor) Johnson. James graduated from Saranac Lake High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. He was hand selected as member of the Presidential Honor Guard. James served from 1956-58, was honorably discharged, and returned to the North Country. He was a supervisor for Interstate Bakery in Plattsburgh. James was a dealer/operator of the Hess Gas Station at Cumberland Head Corners from 1970-1996. He was predeceased by parents, a son Daryl Johnson and a daughter Susan Johnson-Snow, three sisters; Rita Gonyea, Loretta Johnson and Deborah Collins, a daughter-in-law, Kim Johnson-Trombley. James is survived by his children; James Johnson, Jr. and his wife Missy of Charleston, S.C., Steven Johnson and his wife Tammy of Keeseville, and Carolyn LaValley and her husband James of Plattsburgh, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his sisters; Barbara Bradford, Judy Blandford and Linda Garrant and her husband Richard, several nieces and nephews also survive him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday November 16, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow at St. Helen's Cemetery in Chasm Falls, NY at 1:00 pm.
