Plattsburgh Mr. James Harwood Lawton, 56, of Cogan Avenue in Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his home. He was born in Albany on July 22, 1958, the son of the late Paul V. and Gloria A. (Cinney) Lawton, Sr. Jim was employed as a Buildings and Grounds Supervisor for 35 years and was a graduate of Plattsburgh State University. One of his passions was boating on Lake Champlain. Jim's quick wit and his gift for making others feel comfortable endeared him to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jacqueline (Hoffmann) Lawton, his siblings; Paul V. Lawton, Jr. (Eileen), Judith M. Ragotzkie (Jay), his mother in law; Catherine Hoffmann, his sisters in law; Tonya Leising (Christopher), Kimberly Gordon (Charles), and several nieces, nephews and great nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 12:00 pm at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.
