James A. Newvine Sr., 87, of Plattsburgh, formerly of Dekalb Junction, died Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was born Tuesday, October 13th, 1936, the son of Leo and Florence Davis Newvine. James loved watching wrestling, football, western movies, as well as hunting, camping and bowling. He was also a member of the American Legion in Gouverneur, NY. James is survived by his loving daughter, Jayne Newvine Miller, who was his sole caregiver for the last 1 1/2 years in order to keep him home and out of a nursing home, along with several nieces and nephews. He has four estranged grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Melissa, Michelle and Michael, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joann Horton Newvine; two sons, James Jr. and John; great-grandson, Brendyn Law; his mother, Florence Davis Newine; his bother, Frederick and two sisters, Ida Nicholas and Ruby Hocknell. As per his request, there will be no services, Burial will be private at East Dekalb Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
