James J. Reh James J. Reh, of 36 Adirondack Lane, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away July 7, 2011. He was born in Rome, New York on January 10, 1923, the son of George and Lillian (Saker) Reh. Mr. Reh graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1939 and worked for the Rome Cable Corporation until he enlisted as an aviation cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps in January 1942. Upon earning his wings and completing advanced fighter training in 1943, he was assigned to the 10th Air Force in the China Burma India theatre of operations. He served as a pilot with the 528th Fighter Bomber Squadron as well as the 315th Troop Carrier Squadron, flying a total of 162 combat missions. Mr. Reh's war service decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. He was also a member of the Century Club, a fraternity of 10th air force fighter pilots who completed at least 100 combat missions. Following the war, Mr. Reh returned to work at Rome Cable and resided with his family in central New York until 1962 when he became a sales representative for the Tremco Manufacturing Company in Poughkeepsie, New York. After retiring, he moved to Plattsburgh. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking nature walks. Mr. Reh is survived by a daughter, Diana Reh, of Lake Worth, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Linda Reh of Plattsburgh, and a grandson, Kurt Reh of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rosetta and Donald Anderson, of Saco, Maine; a brother, G. Robert Reh, of Cortland, New York; a brother and sister-in law, Brian T. and Masae Reh, of Verona, New York and a sister, Vera Reh, of Rome, New York. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen S. Reh and son, Brian C. Reh; his parents; his brothers John, and David, and sisters Ellen Kirley and Margaret Van Allen. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Reh in Rome, New York at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the CVPH Nursing Scholarship Fund.
