Jamie E Griffin

Jamie E Griffin, 62, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away at CVPH Medical Center on Saturday, June 4, with her daughters by her side.

Born on August 13, 1959, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Jamie spent most of her life in upstate New York. She graduated from Saranac High School in 1977 and then supported herself as a single mother working at the Elk’s Club from the mid-80s to the early-90s while studying Clinical Laboratory Sciences at Clinton Community and finishing at Plattsburgh State University with her bachelor’s degree. Using her degree, she worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at CVPH for over 28 years.

Jamie loved cooking, traveling, the New York Giants, and animals, especially horses. As a kid, Jamie was the family pet supplier, bringing back stray animals that she would find on the side of the road on her way home from school. One time, Jamie was greeted by her mother while walking a horse up the driveway to the family home and was asked, “Jamie, where are we going to put that?” Jamie replied, “I don’t know, we’ll find a place.” Jamie was the happiest during the holidays when she was surrounded by her family.

Jamie is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard C Gordon, and father, Howard Griffin. She is survived by her mother, Sally (Sorrell) Griffin of Plattsburgh; daughters, Jessica Evens and Jenna (Daryl) Perkins of Plattsburgh; step-sons Pete (Darbi) Gordon and Dave Gordon of Plattsburgh; grandchildren Madison Perkins and Alexander Gordon of Plattsburgh; siblings Tim (Joni) Griffin of Plattsburgh, Brenda (Mike) Golden of Morrisonville, Karen (Fred) Hooper of Elizabethtown, Judy (Ray) McCleary of Plattsburgh, Chris (Sarah) Griffin of Syracuse, and Aran (Henry) Griffin of Syracuse; as well as a special uncle, Herling Sorrell of Plattsburgh; and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will be held at Buster’s in Plattsburgh at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
