Jamie L. Sutton, 37, of Milton, VT and formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on October 2, 1987, the daughter of Keith and Dawn (Wood) Cressey. Jamie graduated from Beekmantown High School in 2006. Jamie played soccer on varsity for three years, and was a senior when the team went to the quarterfinals. She also did traveling soccer throughout her high school years where she met so many people along the way. She continued to play soccer for Clinton Community College, where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Human Services. Jamie grew up loving to be outside and being in the sun. She was often riding four wheelers in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter with friends and family. She loved to go fishing with her father, and her little sister, Michelle. She would catch the fish, but wouldn’t touch the fish or the worm. She loved being with her friends and family. As Jamie got older, she found a love for shopping, watching lifetime movies, getting her nails done and she even started to enjoy cooking for her family. Jamie also loved to travel to new places and experience life with her wife, Ashley Sutton. Ashley and Jamie have been together for eleven years and married for eight years. Jamie also had a love for people. Jamie worked for Senior Planet as the Center Manager in the mall, where she taught seniors how to use technology. It was something Jamie genuinely enjoyed doing. She got to know the people she worked with, and enjoyed hearing their stories and learning about the people she was helping. Jamie could walk into a room and not know a single person, and walk out knowing every single one of them. She has always been a light in a dark room. She had a way with people that was unexplainable, but so valued to the people she came in contact with. Family has always been the most important thing to Jamie. Her son, Bentley, has been her greatest accomplishment, motivator and inspiration. Jamie loved loud and big. Jamie always showed up for people, no matter the day or time. Her soul will be not only missed, but cherished. She is survived by her son, Bentley; mother and father Dawn (Wood) and Keith Cressey; sister Michelle Cressey; her wife, Ashley Sutton; her mother and father in law Angelo and Lisa Sutton; her sisters-in-law, Jaceé Sutton, Jhai Sutton and Leahan Staley, brother-in-law, Craig Staley; her nieces Harper Sutton, Tatum Sutton, and Rylea Staley; her nephew, Daniel Staley and her grandparents-in-law Robert and Ada Ruth Williams; several loving aunts, uncles, cousins; her dogs Amari and Rocco; and her cat, Binx. She is predeceased by her grandmothers Dorothy Wood and Bernice Cressey; her uncles Ronald Wood, Alden Wood and Donald Cressey; Aunt Linda Schwartz. We would like to take the time to thank the incredible team of nurses, specialists, doctors and staff for working so diligently with Jamie during her time in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
