PLATTSBURGH - Janice M. Clermont, 92, died peacefully Monday, April 10, 2023, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh.
She was born July 30, 1930, the daughter of T. Harry Morrison and Emma (Goodhart) Morrison.
Janice grew up with three brothers and two sisters in a lovely home on Draper Avenue, Plattsburgh.
She graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1947 and Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.
Janice worked as an RN at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady and for 27 years at CVPH Medical Center, retiring on Aug. 1, 1995.
She was a CVPH Nurses Alumna member and an officer at Morrison and Miller Inc., the business started by her father and still family owned.
She was a lifelong parishioner and past Altar Rosary Society member at St. John’s Church, Plattsburgh.
Janice met her love, Donald A. Clermont, when he offered her and a friend a ride home one day. They married on Sept. 16, 1951, and together built a happy life for their family of three daughters and two sons.
Janice was known as an excellent nurse, working on the cardiac floor for much of her career. She helped train many young nurses and was once written up in the CVPH newsletter for quick action that saved a hospital visitor’s choking baby.
She lost Don to cancer on May 24, 1993. Her brothers James and Robert Morrison, sisters Evelyn Greenleaf (and husband Fred) and Dorothy Pirro (and husband Al) and daughter-in-law Jane Clermont also died before her.
Janice was the heart and strength of a big, close family, all of whom loved and admired her and benefitted from her kindness, generosity, wisdom and medical advice. She encouraged and prayed for all of them.
