Plattsburgh Mr. Jean C. Beaubriand, 87, of Saratoga Springs and formerly of Bailey Avenue in Plattsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs. He was born in Dannemora, N.Y. on April 23, 1924, the son of Allen and Anna (Trudeau) Beaubriand. Jean served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the 28th Marines Regiment and was wounded in the Battle of Iwo Jima and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Lawrence University and retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in 1982 after 33 years of service as a Senior Counselor. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 179 in Plattsburgh. He was also a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 621 in Plattsburgh. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council 255 and also a 4th degree member of the Bishop Wadhams Assembly # 706. He enjoyed woodcarving, archery, snowmobiling, and fishing. Jean is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sandra Beaubriand of Saratoga Springs, his grand-daughter Nicole Beaubriand and her fiancé Philip Moore, a sister, Genevieve Frenyea of Albany, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased in 2006 by his wife Clare Beaubriand, whom he married on December 28, 1946 at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, his brothers Bertrand and Guy Beaubriand and a sister Ruth Colabella. Calling hours will be Friday, May 27, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home , 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Members of the Bishop Wadhams 4th Degree Assembly color corps will meet at 4:00 pm, members of Knights of Columbus Council 255 will meet at 6:30 pm and members of Elks Lodge 621 will meet Friday at 7:00 pm for services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to Woodlawn Commons, 156 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866 or Trinity Church Soup Kitchen, 18 Trinity Place, Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901.
