Jeffrey L Mace

November 25, 1949 — February 25, 2022

Jeffrey L. Mace, 72, of Chazy, NY passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY with his family by his side. He was born in Ticonderoga, NY on November 25, 1949, to Floyd and Patricia (Mero) Mace.

He moved from Westport, NY to Saranac Lake, NY when he was a toddler. He graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1967 and later from North Country Community College. He worked in the family business at Adirondack Tire until 1988 when he went to work for the Town of Harrietstown Highway Department where he remained until his move to Chazy, NY.

While growing up he was an avid sports lover and played baseball throughout his school years, including American Legion baseball. He was an amazing shortstop and won many awards while playing. He also ran track and has many ribbons to show for his talent. He was a volunteer with the Saranac Lake Fire Department. He played guitar in a band while in High School. He loved to worship the Lord so he and his friend, Tim Wise, started a group called Isaiah 6:8 (answering the question that verse in the Bible asks) and then added a third member, Kc Hicks. They traveled all over this region singing the gospel message and giving their individual testimonies of how they gave their hearts and lives to Jesus.

He married Kc Hicks on January 2nd of 1976. On September 17th of 1987, their only child was born.

In 1993, he and his family moved to Chazy, NY where he and Kc became pastors of Chazy Christian Center. The church then bought a building in West Chazy where they later underwent a name change to Waters of Life Worship Center. In 2003, Jeff and Kc stepped down as pastors and Jeff began working at Church Oil Company in Plattsburgh, NY, where he remained until his retirement in April of 2021.

He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid golfer. He had a great love for animals and had many pets throughout his life. He had a great sense of humor and would always be telling jokes. He would always help others before thinking of himself. He was a wonderful husband and an awesome dad. He loved digging into the Word of God and when the Lord would give him a new revelation, he would go to Kc and say, “Got a minute? I’d like to share something with you.” She would then stop what she was doing and listen, especially knowing he was about to explode if he couldn’t tell share with someone. He was an anointed teacher of the Word.

He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Patricia (Mero) Mace, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roger and Berdie (Nunn) Hicks, his brother-in-law, Roger Hicks II, and his brother-in-law Walt Godfrey.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kc (Hicks) Mace, son Ruben Mace, brother and sister-in-law Greg and Amy Mace of Lake Clear, NY, and sisters Sharon (Mace) Godfrey of Cadyville, NY and Kathy (Mace) Premo of Gloversville, NY, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Janis Hicks of Easton, Pa, his sister-in-law Robin (Hicks) Felton of Huntington Beach, CA and his sister-in-law Jean Hicks of Wind Gap, PA along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brown Funeral home in Plattsburgh is handling arrangements. There will not be a viewing but there will be a memorial held this Spring at an outdoor pavilion followed by a barbecue and fellowship to remember the good times . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite animal rescue charity in honor of Jeff’s love for animals or plant a tree(s) through Brown’s Funeral Home website or the Arbor Day Foundation so others may continue to enjoy the outdoors.
