Jerry I. Racette, 93, of Cane Road in Saranac, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home. He was born in Redford on November 27, 1927, the son of the late Louis and Ursula (Supernault) Racette.
Jerry served in the Army artillery during the Korean War and later was a custodian at Saranac Central School for many years until his retirement. He was a lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Assumption. He enjoyed playing poker and loved riding his four wheeler and going on long adventurous rides with his brother in law.
He is survived by a son and daughter in law: Michael and Lisa Racette of Saranac, 2 daughters and a son in law; Linda Racette of Plattsburgh, Judy and Steve McKenzie of Saranac, his grandchildren,; Bobby Jo, Christina, Andrew, Katie, Kyle, Jerry, Jessica and Brittany, 14 great grandchildren and one more on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Marian Racette, his brothers; Roland, Armand, and Bernard, sisters Olive Burdo, Bernadette Hughes , Rita Hahn ,Sr. Agnes Racette and Genevieve Strong. . Calling hours will be held privately for the family. Face masks and social distancing are in effect. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment with military honors will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to the Church of the Assumption.
