JinSil Lee, age 90, passed away on January 3, 2019 under the care of Meadowbrook Healthcare. She was born on May 12, 1928 in Manchuria, China to Sang-yup Kim and Sun-sook Paek. She was the fourth of five children. During the Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula, her family fled to Manchuria, China in 1920 where they lived until Japanese surrender in1945. She was a 1951 graduate of Kyung-Nam Christian High School. From 1952-1957, she studied at DaeHan Presbyterian Theological Seminary, graduating with a degree in Pastoral Ministry. Between 1957-1961, she served as the Pastor of Parish Care at three different churches before marrying Rev. NakJoo Lee in August 15, 1961, with whom she ministered in SongDo, Incheon, South Korea, until her family’s immigration to the US in March 1981, settling in NYC. She lived a full life in service to God, God’s people and her family.
She is survived by her daughter Jean & Kwangseek Choe (grandchildren: Eunice, Eusung) of Plattsburgh, NY; a son Samuel & Joy Lee (grandchildren: Hojoon, Sarah) of Tacoma, WA; a younger sister, Yoo Min Awe, of Honolulu, HI; and numerous nephews & nieces in the US & in South Korea.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Rev. NakJoo Lee, her older brothers EuiMin Kim & ChoongMin Kim, an older sister, her grandson Eugene Choe.
The Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Plattsburgh, 127 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901, on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 4:30pm, with Reception to follow at the church’s Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lee’s memory to: David’s House, 461 Mt Support Rd, Lebanon, NH 03766
