Joan B Bordeau

Plattsburgh Mrs. Joan B. Bordeau, 87, of Standish Street in Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Swindon, England on May 3, 1923, the daughter of Alfred Thomas and Rose Hannah (Tarrant) Hart.. There, she met and married her husband of 51 years, Wilfred W. Bordeau during WWII on February 3, 1945. Shortly thereafter, she boarded the Queen Mary to the United States and gained citizenship. Joan was employed by Plattsburgh City School District and worked in the Junior High and Senior High cafeterias until she retired in the mid-eighties. She enjoyed swimming, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, crocheting, reading mystery novels, traveling, and family gatherings whether they'd be at the beach or in her back yard. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. She was also an active member of St. Peter's parish. Joan was predeceased by her parents, husband, siblings, and grandsons Benjamin and Matthew Bordeau. She is survived by her sons; Wilfred Bordeau and wife and Sandra Bordeau, James Bordeau and Charles; her grandchildren Joleen Kuhns and husband Brian, Carrie Bordeau and fiancé Tood Gumlaw, Alana Irish and husband Richard, Marnie Bordeau and companion Terry Pardy, Zackariah Bordeau and companion Rachel Ladouceur, Shane Bordeau and wife Jeanne Tao, Molly Stone and husband Kelly, Margaret Bordeau and companion Adam Valk, and Emily Bordeau; her great grandchildren ; Cody and Hannah Kuhns, Benjamin Collins and Abby Gumlaw, Madison and Allison Pardy, and Phoebe Bordeau. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 9 am from St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
