Joan M Green

Joan "Joann" M. Green, 83, of Adirondack Lane, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on September 23, 1933 the daughter of Edward and Lena (O'lena) Blow. Joan graduated from Mooers High School in Mooers, NY and later Plattsburgh State Teachers College. After graduating she began teaching at East Greenbush School District. She married Henry W. Green on July 7, 1962 at St. Louis of France Church in Sciota, NY. Joan stopped teaching to raise her family but continued to work various part time jobs. She went back to working for the New York State Education Department until retiring. Joan and Henry lived in Menands, NY until relocating to Plattsburgh in 1995. She was a member of the Clinton County Senior Citizens Council, St. Peter's Church, C.S.E.A Retirees and Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Mary Immaculate # 479, until her health would not allow. Joan enjoyed reading, skiing, and in her younger years traveling to Europe with her teaching colleagues. She was active with the girl scouts when her daughters were young. Joan and Henry traveled extensively in retirement to places throughout the U.S. Joan was predeceased by her husband Henry W. Green, her siblings; Rhea Gnass, Lloyd Blow, Corrine Blow, Hillard Blow and Oswald Blow. She is survived by her daughters; Pauline (Michael) McWaters of AL, Marianne (Damon Fregoe) Sorrell of Plattsburgh and Joline Dahoda of Clifton Park, NY and Eliza Criss of OH, six grandchildren; Michael McWaters, Thomas Sorrell, Zachary Dahoda, Taylor Filon, Alexandra Criss and Logan Criss, several nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Monday October 24, 2016 from 10:30 to 12:30 am at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
