Joan Lukasiewicz

August 6, 1925 — February 6, 2023

Joan Florence Lukasiewicz passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023. She was the second child born to Thomas and Catherine (Budrick) Glenn on August 6, 1925. Her sister, Violet (Bromberger), pre-deceased her and was Joan’s only sibling.

Surviving Joan are her son Jack; grand children Mark Lukasiewicz and Jill O'Brien; great grand children Nathan and Kayla O'Brien, Celeste and Savanah Lukasiewicz; and a great, great grandson, Wesley; a niece, Marilyn and two nephews, George and Otto Bromberger.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a member of St Theresa's Church and others in the suburban Detroit area as she moved to new locations as different job opportunities came available.

In 1960, she professed as a member of the Third Order of Secular Franciscans serving the needy within the community.

She was a dedicated sponsor to the Brothers of Holy Cross, who staffed Knights of Columbus supported schools in rural Michigan.

Upon her retirement, she cared for her mom. Whenever possible they donated their time sorting and mending clothes at the St. Alexander's Church in Richmond, Michigan. After her mom's passing, Joan moved to Plattsburgh to be closer to family.

She was proud of her charity work for those at Beekmantowers in Plattsburgh. Nothing went to waist and was recycled in some fashion.

Our family thanks all those caregivers who supported Joan over the years. Those at North Winds Primary Care Clinic, CVPH Medical Center, and Meadowbrook Healthcare, Skilled Nursing Home, Plattsburgh, NY. A particular thank you to Dr. Kevin McCullum, Fran the “charge nurse,” and all the medical assistants on Alpine View [3rd floor] who cared for Joan.

Calling hours are on Friday, February 10 th from 4 to 5:30p.m. at the Brown’s Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Holy Cross Parish, 7 Margaret St., Plattsburgh, NY, Saturday, February 11th at 10:30a.m.

Our family thankfully declines flowers and wishes donations sent to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, 212 Cornelia St., Plattsburgh NY 12901.
