Joanne N Fray

Plattsburgh Mrs. Joanne "Jodie" Charlotte Nelson Fray, 77, formerly of Charlottesville, Virginia and most recently Sailly Avenue, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Monday, July 6, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 5, 1932 the daughter of Gilbert Honnette and Elsie Linnea (Olsen) Nelson. Joanne graduated from the University of Virginia, Class of 1956 with a degree in History and Education. She met the love of her life John N. Fray while working at Miller and Rhodes Department Store in Charlottesville. They were married February 14, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana. Joanne and John owned and operated their own store Heaven to Seven Shop and Red Lion Gifts. She enjoyed knitting, was a passionate reader and she was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer of Plattsburgh. Joanne was predeceased by her parents Gilbert and Elsie Nelson. She is survived by her husband John N. Fray of Plattsburgh, three daughters; Susan Carole Fray of Morrisonville, Dianne Farnsworth and her husband David of Morrisonville, Charlotte Gavalas and her husband Nickolas of North Augusta, South Carolina, a son John G. Fray and his wife Denise of Roanoke, VA, her grandchildren; Sarah Farnsworth Cross and her husband David, John Farnsworth and his finance Nikki Bishop, Mary Farnsworth, Nancy Farnsworth, Anthony Gavalas, Alyssa Gavalas, Rachael Fray, Amanda Fray and Christina Fray, two sisters; Dianne Tillman and her husband Donald, Darlene Burk and her husband Keith, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, July 13, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Adirondack Lane, Plattsburgh, New York. Interment will be held in Monticello Memorial Park, Charlottesville, Virginia. Donations in Joanne's memory may be made to the H. K. Freedman Renal Center in care of CVPH Medical Center Foundation.
