John R Braun

John R. Braun, 84, of Beekmantown, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh on January 14, 1934, the son of John B. and Catherine (Grigware) Braun. John served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for NYSEG for 33 years, retiring as a Chief Lineman. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, and later St. Peter's Church. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #20, and the VFW Post #125. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking or using his computer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rita, and their children; Mary Boudreau and her husband Daniel of Peru, John Braun and his wife Marie of Plattsburgh, James Braun and his wife Regina of Chazy, Ann Hayes and her husband Glenn of Rhode Island, Joseph Braun and his wife Tammy of Chazy, his grandchildren; John, Amanda, Karen, Melaney, Garrison, Gabrielle, and Quinn. He was predeceased by his parents, many aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
