John P “Momo” DeCoste, 58, of Mooers Forks passed away on June 19, 2020 at UVM-CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh surrounded by his loving family.
John was born September 2, 1961 in Plattsburgh, son of Raymond & Daphene DeCoste. He received his Associates Degree in Counseling in 1997 from Clinton Community College. John suffered many health ailments over the years leaving him unable to work. Momo had a heart of gold and spent many hours FaceTiming friends and family. You were always guaranteed to receive a kiss on the head and a hug from Momo.
John is survived by his daughter, Danielle Trombly-Slick, his son John “JR” DeCoste & wife Melanie, daughter Danielle DeCoste, stepdaughter Jamie Gallivan & husband Brendan and stepdaughter Janet Carter.
He is also survived by his siblings, Ellyas Decoste & wife Linda, Hollie Bulriss, Lindsay DeCoste & wife Sheila, and Eydie Nephew. Momo also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a best friend, Marlon McDonald.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Winston & Darwin.
Momo had a love of children but a special place in his heart for his grandchildren Demi, Natalie, Jordan, & Niklaus Slick, Kira DeCoste, Natalie, Bryden, & Jayce DeCoste, Brendan & Alana Gallivan, Alexis LaPorte and Torre Nadeau.
John’s kids were his pride and joy. Growing up, his son was his little Buddy. He always had a huge smile on his face whenever speaking of his children.
Anyone that was blessed enough to know Momo, knew of his love of Harley Motorcycles, Mountain Dew, and Glazier “red skinned” hot dogs. He was always laughing and partying every chance he could. Momo loved the bike club life and all his biker brother and sisters. For many years you would find John with his 4-legged companion, Allie by his side heading to McDonalds for a cheeseburger. He loved life and was always known to be having a good time surrounded by friends.
We take comfort in knowing John made his way to Heaven riding his Harley where his parents, brothers, and past friends welcomed him. He is now pain free & riding his bike. Until we meet again “Good to Go”
The family wants to send a sincere thank you to the NYS police & Champlain/Mooers EMS for all their efforts to save John’s life along with the hospital and nursing staff in the ER and ICU.
A graveside service will be held at St Ann’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks on Thursday June 25, 2020 at 11:00 am. We welcome all family and friends to join us to lay our beloved Momo to rest.
