John F Demarse

February 10, 1926 — August 26, 2021

John F. Demarse, 95, formerly of Beekmantown, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility after a short illness.
He was born in Churubusco on February 10, 1926, son of Elmer and Lillian (Decosse) Demarse. He married Grace (Martin) on April 24, 1954, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Churubusco. John worked for many years at Beekmantown School and loved to garden and do woodworking.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Grace, four brothers and three sisters.
John is survived by his daughters, Dr. Joy Demarse and her husband Keith Herkalo, Jill and her husband Michael Phaneuf; three grandchildren, James Rock, Jaclyne D. Purtell and her husband Shawn and Jorja Zielinski and her husband Jacob; his great-grandchildren, Lincoln Purtell, and Jackson, Edison, Hudson Zielinski, and Astraea and Thane Wolfshadow; his four sisters, several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Entombment will be in Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to March of Dimes, a charity of one’s choice, or his daughters ask that you perform a random act of kindness as their dad was known to do.
