John T Figart Jr

December 10, 1965 — July 23, 2022

John T. Figart Jr., son of John and Patricia (Champagne) Figart, died at UVM-CVPH Medical Center on July 23, 2022 with his loving family by his side after a brief battle with cancer.
He graduated from Plattsburgh High School and attended Plattsburgh State University College. He became a retail store manager with many companies such as Hills Dept. Store, Woolworths, Ames, Dicks Sporting Goods, Rite Aid, and most recently Kinney Drugs where he was a dual Store Manager of both Lake Placid and Peru Stores. His career took him to St. Albans VT, Burlington VT, Cherry Hill NJ, Philadelphia PA, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid until his retirement in 2019.
John was a lifelong animal lover having grown up with horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. As a young adult he raised and bred cockatiels, as well as owning finches, parakeets and parrots. After buying his first home he yearned for a dog, until one day he was introduced to a Siberia Husky puppy who he named Yukon’s Super Nova. John adored Nova which led to him sharing his life and home with 3 other Siberian Huskies throughout the years. He was interested in everything that he could do with his dogs including training and competing in show, trials, obedience, rally obedience, competitive weight pulling and dog sledding. He had been Vice President and the President of High Peaks Dog Training Club in Lake Placid where he taught dog training. He also loved hiking, camping, fishing and being in nature.
More recently he enjoyed building models and collecting Lego. He started buying Lego Kits and building according to directions but then started building his own creations. He would buy lots of loose Lego and build customized vehicles, buildings, and dioramas using his imagination and creativity.
Throughout his years he liked to remodel, often buying the ugliest home on the block and making it beautiful. He had the talent to repurpose old and ugly items and give them a new life. He turned an old wooden boat into a bookcase, old skis into a bench, and an old toboggan into a shelf.
John was a true optimist; he had the patience of a Saint and was rarely in a bad mood. He left a large void in the hearts of many and will be missed tremendously.
He is survived by the love of his life Pamela (Spooner) who he married on July 11, 1993, recently celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. He’s also survived by his canine companion Matty, his sisters Marsha Brunet (Jim) of Plattsburgh and Grace Trombley (Mark) of Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sister Sharron Labrecque (Simon) of VA, and Jonnie Figart of NY.
There will be no public calling hours or services.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh NY 12901. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com
