John N Fray

Plattsburgh Mr. John N. Fray, 87, of Plattsburgh, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the UVM Health Network CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Charlottesville, VA, on February 22, 1928 the son of Albert and Lucille (Early) Fray. John graduated from the University of Virginia in 1952. He worked for the Virginia National Bank and Miller and Rhoads Dept. Store. While at work at Miller and Rhoads he met the love of his life Joanne "Jodie" Charlotte Nelson Fray and they were married February 14, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana. Joanne and John owned and operated their own store Heaven to Seven Shop and Red Lion Gifts. He enjoyed playing and listening to music and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer of Plattsburgh. John was President of the Merchants Association at Barracks Road Shopping Center, a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Charlottesville and the Jefferson Club at University of Virginia. He is predeceased by his wife. He is survived by three daughters; Susan Carole Fray of Morrisonville, Dianne Farnsworth and her husband David of Morrisonville, Charlotte Gavalas and her husband Nickolas of North Augusta, South Carolina, a son John G. Fray and his wife Denise of Wilmington, NC, his grandchildren; Sarah Farnsworth Cross and her husband David, John Farnsworth and his wife Nikki, Mary Farnsworth, Nancy Farnsworth, Anthony Gavalas, Alyssa Gavalas, Rachael Fray, Amanda Fray and Christina Fray, two great grandchildren; Katelyn and Elizabeth Cross. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held in Monticello Memorial Park, Charlottesville, Virginia.
