John Edward Payant

Harkness, NY John E. Payant, 55, of Calkins Road, Harkness, NY passed away on Thursday September 23, 2010 with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on July 31, 1955 the son of Ernest and Doris (Mousseau) Payant. John worked for many years as a Braser at Vapor Stone Air in Plattsburgh. He graduated from Harley Davidson Motorcycle School, where he learned to repair motorcycles. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time outside, the autumn season and spending time with his son. John was an avid soccer and hockey fan, and was always cheering for the Montreal Canadians. John was predeceased his father Ernest Payant, a sister-in-law Donna Payant, a brother-in-law Brian Fountain, his step father Orphir Thibault, an uncle Jack Garrick and a cousin Coleen Garrick. He is survived by his wife of 12 years Angelina Sokoloski Payant, a son Trevor Payant, both of Harkness, NY, his mother Doris Thibault of Beekmantown, NY, three brothers; Leo Payant of Saratoga, NY, Peter Payant and his wife Sherrill of Plattsburgh, NY and Steve Payant and wife Nettie of Altona, NY, two sisters; Theresa Payant of Beekmantown, NY and Virginia Payant and her companion Paula Pierce of VT, his father and mother-in-law; Joseph and Laena Sokoloski of Plattsburgh, NY, a brother-in-law Jim Sokoloski of TX, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him. Calling hours will be held on Sunday September 26, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
