John W. Sucharski Jr.

April 28, 1942 — September 13, 2023

John W. Sucharski Jr. of 7 Prescott Rd. Keeseville, NY and 4680 Poinciana Dr. Indian Lake Estates, FL, died Wednesday September 13, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side.

John was born in Glen Cove, NY, April 28, 1942, the son of John and Helen (Kolodnicki) Sucharski. After graduating from high school, John joined the Navy in September 1961 until September 1965 when he was honorably discharged. A couple of years later, John joined the New York State Police, Troop B, and served for 23 years on the force, retiring on July 17, 1990.

John loved the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His passion for deer season was monumental and he loved fishing for salmon on Lake Champlain in the spring and Crappie all winter long on Lake Walk in the Water in Florida. John always brought home to the North Country a cooler full of crappie and distributed it amongst family and friends.

Left to cherish the memory of John are, his wife of 15 years, Patricia Sucharski; Son's John (Kathleen) Sucharski Ill and Steven (Nancy) Sucharski; Daughter, Tara Sucharski Coleman; Granddaughter, Jessica Sucharski; 2 Fur Grandbabies, Emmit and Dell Elizabeth; Brother-in-Law, Stanley Sienkiewicz; Nephews, Stanley (Kathleen) Sienkiewicz, Michael (Corinne) Sienkiewicz; Niece, Shelle (Matt) King; Stepchildren, Dorothy (Patrick) Bernard, Kathy (Peter Handy) Pettengill, Edward [Bill] (April) Pettengill, Mitch, Grayson and Jeffrey Michaud.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his Sister, MaryAnne (Stanley) Sienkiwicz, Brother, Stanley Sucharski, Niece, Patricia Sienkiewicz and Nephew Andrew Sucharski.

John and Pat were fortunate to have been surrounded by their wonderful Florida friends that have become family to them. There are too many to mention but they have enjoyed fishing, biking, golfing and all-around friendship with them while they were in Florida for the winter months.

A funeral service will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Keeseville, NY, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00am. Private family burial immediately after the services at Port Douglas Cemetery on the Highlands Road. Reception to follow at the VFW in Keeseville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Chesterfield Rod and Gun Club or the Keeseville Elks Lodge 112072.
