Joseph H Burgess

Joseph H. Burgess, 86, of Rabideau Street, Cadyville, NY passed away on Friday February 18, 2022 at his home. He was born in Hartford, NY on May 23, 1935, the son of Albert and Cecile (Osborne) Burgess.
Joseph graduated from St. John’s Academy in 1954. He married Sylvia Rock on September 10, 1955 at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Joseph joined the United States Army in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959 and later called up from the Reserves in 1961 to active duty again. He worked as a Route Driver and Salesman for Rosebud Creamery in Plattsburgh and later for Crowley before retiring in 1998.
Joseph was a member of St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville, the Knights of Columbus, a Scout Master for Boy Scouts of American where he received the Husband and Wife Scouter Award and the Wood Badge Award.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sylvia Burgess, a son Edward Burgess and a brother Richard Burgess.
He is survived by four sons, Steven and Anne Burgess of Point au Roche, Jeffrey and Peggy Burgess of Morrisonville, Andrew and Susan Burgess of Cadyville, Michael Burgess of Cadyville, a daughter-in-law Sarah Burgess of Saranac, six grandchildren, Anthony Burgess and his fiancé Julia Levinson, Sarah Patnaik and her husband Alok, Garrett Burgess, Zachary Burgess and his fiancé Sarah Ducatte, Stephanie Hamlin and her husband Bakim and Samantha Burgess, two great granddaughters; Peyton and Hunter Burgess, his sister Diane Beck of Florida and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Burial will be later in the year in the parish cemetery.
