Joseph M "Pal" Lapier

Joseph M. “Joe” LaPier, 92, formerly of West Chazy passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with his loving family by his side. He was born in Ogdensburg, NY on December 26, 1929 the son of Menrell and Margaret (Macey) Deno. He was adopted by Irvin (Blanche) LaPier.

Joe graduated from MAI in 1949. He then served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired as a correction officer from Clinton Correctional Facility. In his retirement, he became a real estate agent working for Donald Duley Associates. Joe was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, West Chazy serving as a lector, a member of the Men’s Club and working bingo.

He was a member of the Chazy American Legion Post #769, where he was Past Commander, the Knights of Columbus Council #125 and the West Chazy Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his parents, his adopted parents Irvin (Blanche) LaPier, his siblings; Rita (John) Carpenter, Elsie (Claude) Lavigne, Marion (Gerald) Blain, Lillian (Francis) Bullen, his mother-in-law Emma McMannis and a great-grandson a special angel Boone Light.

Joe is survived by his wife of sixty eight years Agnes (Oshier) LaPier, five daughters; Kim Kourosky and her companion Michael Lawler, Beth St. Louis and her companion Michael Taylor, Mary (Brian) Rabideau, Paula (Craig) Smith, Leanne (Chris) Alford, 13 grandchildren; Haley Kourofsky, Nisha (Matthew) Duquette, Erin (Bill) Light, Erik St. Louis, Adam Rabideau, Matthew Rabideau (Valarie Matott), Kasey McCormick, Ryan McCormick, Tyler (Stefanie) LaPier, Zoey Smith, Daniel Smith, Nathan Alford, Jack Alford, 3 great-grandchildren; Charleston and Flynn Duquette, Everleigh LaPier and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church West Chazy.
Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Chazy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, West Chazy.
