Joseph Floyd Sears

Mr. Joseph "Floyd" Sears, age 80 of the Moffitt Road, Plattsburgh, NY., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at CVPH Skilled Nursing Care, Plattsburgh, NY. Floyd was born February 27, 1933, the son of Leo and Dora (Phaneuf) Sears. Floyd attended a one room school house, Woodruff Pond School, Route 9 Plattsburgh and St. Peter's School, Plattsburgh, NY. Floyd will be greatly miss as "Wheeler" at the morning coffee shop having a good time with his friends, singing, visiting, having a good sense of humor, helping people and attending the services at St. Peter's Church. Floyd and his father managed one of the largest dairy farms in Clinton County on the Moffitt Road up until the mid 70's. Later in life Floyd owned and operated a small construction company for many years and also developed a housing project on the Moffitt Road, "Sears Blvd." He also worked in local cemeteries, including Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Msgr. Morris Dwyer. He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Dora Sears and a brother Wilfred "Willy" Sears and brother-in-laws George Cote, Ernest Deyo and John Manor. Floyd is survived by his sisters Valida Cote and her companion David Rivers of West Chazy, NY and Punta Gorda, FL. Marie "Mae" Manor of Beekmantown and Annette Deyo of Beekmantown and a brother Eugene Sears and his wife Bonnie of Plattsburgh, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. At Floyd's request there will be no public calling hours a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. Peter's building fund Plattsburgh, NY in Floyd's name. At his request he will be cremated with a special request to celebrate his life with lunch in the Emmaus Room, immediately following the memorial service. Burial will take place at Mt.
