Josephine M. Pierzynski, 99, of Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH. She was born in Lipica Dolna, Poland on March 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Piotr and Zofia (Sobonkiewicz) Unicka.
Josephine lived in Poland until 1942 and moved to Austria until moving to Chasm Falls in 1949. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Malone and the Altar-Rosary Society. She loved cooking, embroidery, reading nonfiction and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Heffernan of Plattsburgh, 3 grandchildren; Khristina Heffernan of Plattsburgh, Elisa-Beth Heffernan of Plattsburgh, Christopher and Angel Heffernan of Chazy, and 4 great grandchildren; Madison Jozefa, Emma and Zachary, and Mikolaj.
She was predeceased by her husband Walenty Pierzynski in 1974. A brother and two sisters in Poland also passed away earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Malone at a later date.
