Joshua Tyler Franz, 31, of Cadyville, NY, passed away at home on Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born Monday, June 21st, 1993, to his loving parents Douglas Franz and Renee Perdi. Joshua was a gifted musician. He was a graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and earned his Masters in Music Theory at the University at Buffalo. His primary instrument was the clarinet, but he was an accomplished pianist, acoustic and electric guitarist, bass guitarist and saxophonist. He played in many area bands, local theater groups and numerous North Country classical orchestras. Josh’s other passion was online gaming. He started gaming as a young teenager and enjoyed playing with friends from across the country and around the world. Josh was a kind soul who made others laugh and would warm your heart with his smile. He loved hiking with his mother and father and their dogs and he loved his cat, Jill. He started writing lyrics for songs in middle school and went on to compose many songs for the guitar and piano. His music can be found on SoundCloud under his name. Some of his best work was done on the piano in the practice studios at the Crane School of Music. Those sessions were beautiful and will never be forgotten. He valued the friendships he made at Saranac High School and at SUNY Potsdam. He was a loving Son. He is survived by his mother, Renee Perdi and his father, Douglas Franz, and by the many other family members and friends who loved him.
