Joyce C. Broderick, 94, of Nicholas Drive in Morrisonville, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on March 18, 1929, the only child of the late Frank and Ruth (Frechette) Corron. Joyce attended OLVA through elementary school and graduated from Peru Central School in the class of 1946 as president and salutatorian. She then continued on to Austin's School of Cosmetology in Albany, NY. On May 31, 1948, she married Francis Broderick in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, NY. From 1957 to 1972, together they owned and operated the "Creamy B" Dairy Bar on South Catherine Street. She enjoyed a variety of crafts, oil and acrylic painting, card playing, cooking and volunteering, having volunteered 30 years at CVPH and many years at St. John's Rectory. She was a past officer and member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Immaculate Court # 479, member of St. John's Altar-Rosary Society, Senior Citizens Center and Eye Care of the Adirondacks Senior Fitness. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Francis, daughter Patricia, in laws Casimir and Ina Broderick, daughter in law Diane Broderick, step brothers Lyman, Adrian and Walter Rivers, step brothers Maurice Fregeau, Arthur Renadette, and a step sister Leona Renadette, Left to cherish her memory are her sons; James Broderick, Scot (Lorraine) Broderick, John (Terry) Broderick, and daughter Mary (Ronald) LaVarnway, grandchildren; Mathew (Laura) Broderick, Sarah (Brian) Prevallet, Katherine (Matthew) Wakim, Abbey (Ryan) Bailey, Keenan (Rebecca) Broderick, Dr. Michael LaVarnway, Adam (Meghan) LaVarnway, Alexander(Mercedes) Broderick, and Nathan Broderick, her great grandchildren; Lydia, Danika, Adessa, Rachael, Hailey, Josephine, Regan, Ryan, Luke, and Ellison, also step sisters; Sister Linda Rivers, O.P., and Theresa Fregeau. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Church. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL., 35210-9768. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
