Joyce Bushey

Joyce A. (LaBounty) Bushey 92 formerly of the Golden Road, West Chazy, NY passed away Monday, March 12th at CVPH Medical Center. Born 2/7/26 to Albert & Ethel (Monty) LaBounty, Joyce lived in the Plattsburgh and surrounding areas most of her life. She met the love of her life (Alton (Al) Bushey) when she was 18 years old. They were married October 20, 1945 at St. Peter's Rectory and celebrated 63 years of marriage before Al's death in June of 2009. Joyce's first and foremost priority was her family. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and always put her family's needs before her own. She provided a safe and loving home for Al as well as their 6 children. She was by Al's side as he started and built his TV Sales & Service business on the Quarry Road, many times, with a little one on her hip. She was one of the kindest, most selfless people you could meet. Through the years, Joyce loved to play poker with her friends on the weekends. She always had her "poker money" stashed away. She loved to play bingo and loved going to the casino. Her last casino trip was on her 85th birthday. In addition to her entertainment, Joyce loved to do puzzles and counted cross stitch. She completed many beautiful cross stitch projects for her children. Joyce also loved her motorhome, camping at Fish Creek and listening to Classic Country Music. She and Al were snowbirds for many years enjoying the company of their north country friends in Florida during the cold winter months. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her children: Robert (Adrienne) Bushey, Alan (Molly) Bushey, Marilyn (Barry) Dwyer, Carolyn (Randy) Tetreault Beverly (Don) Benfer, Bill (Terri) Bushey, her grandchildren; Danny & Amy Bushey, Hannah Roussy, Chris Bushey, Anna Glatt, Adam Simpson, Ian & Matt Dwyer, Kristin McAuliffe, Nicolette Terry, Chantal DuBrey, Maxwell & Paige Benfer, Phoenix & Kenneth Bushey, Hilary Converse her great grandchildren; Abby, Rowen, Ava, Jack & Cameron, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at a later date at the West Chazy Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the CVPH Medical Center Foundation to assist families caring for loved ones with a debilitating illness.
