Joyce L Doorey

Joyce L. Doorey, 84, formerly of Main St., Peru, NY passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on October 24, 1933 the daughter of Fred and Grace (LaVigne) Gerke. Joyce was a graduate of PHS. She worked in banking, retiring from Charter One Bank. Joyce enjoyed traveling, going to the YMCA and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Michael Doorey and several brothers and sisters. Joyce is survived by her children; Cheryl (Paul) LaMora, Cindy Zeglis, Michael (Pamela) Doorey, Stephen (JoAnne) Doorey, Jephrey Doorey, Mark Doorey, Kris (Michelle) Doorey, her sister; Beverly Hyslip, thirteen grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends wishing may make donations to the food shelf of one's choice or the resident's activity fund at Meadowbrook.
