Joyce R Tolosky

Joyce Ryan Tolosky, formerly of Hammond Street, Dannemora, NY and most recently of Pine Harbour Assisted Living, passed away at Meadowbrook Healthcare on January 26, 2018. Joyce was born in Saranac, NY on August 9, 1929 to Emmett and Reah (LaFontaine) Ryan. As a child she and her brother, Jim, moved to Dannemora with their parents. She graduated from Dannemora High School in 1947. On May 15, 1948 she and Jacob "Jake" Tolosky, Jr. were married in St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. They had two children, Susan and Nancy (Sister Rosemary, O.P.) Joyce worked for many years as a teller with National Commercial Bank (Key Bank) in Plattsburgh. Later she worked as a Customer Service Representative for New York Telephone for several years. She and Jake enjoyed visiting their children, especially enjoying time spent with their grandchildren, Kevin and Megan. The Maine coast was a favorite destination to enjoy light houses and lobster. Many happy summers were spent at the family camp, "Sue-Tim"on Chazy Lake with family and friends. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Jake in October 2002, her parents, in-laws Jacob and Edith Tolosky, Sr., her brother James (Gloria) Ryan, nephew Timothy Ryan, her brothers-in-law Anthony and James Tolosky and sister-in-law Mary Bonar. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Reg Carter, her daughter Nancy (Sister Rosemary O.P.) and grandchildren Kevin and Megan Carter, she is also survived by several nephews and their families. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joyce's extended Pine Harbor family and staff and the staff of the 3rd floor at Meadowbrook for their excellent and thoughtful care. Calling hours will be held on Monday January 29, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will be later in the year in the parish Cemetery.
