“Lady” Judy Ann Bishop, 87, of Cumberland Head, Plattsburgh, New York, passed away Saturday, May 25th, 2024. She was born in High Garrett, Braintree, Essex, England on January 16th,1937. Her son, Michael, had Judy registered as a “Lady” according to English Title rights in 2020. Judy was born to Winfred Vera (Smith) Porter and Alan Maxwell Porter, and had one sister, Christine. Judy was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in December of 1961, a few years after marrying John E. Bishop Jr. on June 8th, 1958. She was one of the most patriotic people you could ever meet and loved going to the North Country Honor Flights. Just try keeping her away… Judy’s love for plants and gardening was a perfect match for her green thumb. She loved live music performances and was a talented painter in watercolors. She loved sharing ties with family and friends; especially with her dear friends on Tuesday & Thursday mornings for coffee and sweets at 424 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh (at the double arches). Anyone that thinks Judy always maintained composure never watched the New York Giants football team under-perform with her. Judy is survived by one daughter, Debra A. Bishop of Maynard, MA; and four sons: Richard A. Bishop & wife Denise of Decatur, AL; Michael J. Bishop & wife Katherine of El Sobrante, CA; CMSgt. (Ret) Ronald G. Bishop & wife Brenda of Camdenton, MO; and Daniel C. Bishop & wife Wendie of Plattsburgh, NY; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with another on the way! Private / family services were entrusted to Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Entombment is at Town of Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum, 251 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, New York. On the sunny side of the building, so Judy & John could “watch” the sunsets together. Judy did not want cut flowers, only live plants. So please plant something in her honor. North Country Honor Flight donations in Judy’s name is another way to honor her memory.
