Karen A Burkush

Karen A. Burkush, 67, of Saranac, NY, passed away on July 31, 2022 at her home with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh on October 25, 1954 the daughter of Onufry and Juanita (Collins) Baraniak.

Karen Graduated at Saranac Central Highschool in 1971.

Karen worked all her life she was raised on her family's farm, worked as a mason with her father, was a secretary for the Dean of the college in Plattsburgh, she also worked at a key factory and then she retired after she worked 30+ years at Swarovski (formally schonbeks) as a picker.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery and romance novels she also enjoyed several television shows especially Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote.

Those who predeceased her are both her parents Onufry and Juanita Baraniak, her dearest husband Stephen Burkush, her grandparents Michael and Katherine Baraniak and Tom and Josephine Collins and her aunts Barbara Beecher, Rosanne Pelletier, Natelie Charland, and Catherine Furnia.

Survivors are her Aunt Harriet Furnia and her Aunt Geraldine Mead, her three sisters Kathy Bennett and her partner Eddy Bennett of Saranac, Judy Soderberg and her husband Roy Soderberg of Morrisonville, and Linda Baraniak-Birk and her husband Robert Birk of Riverview, her three children a daughter Danielle (Vogt) Davis and her partner Heath Blake of Maryland, her daughter Erin (Vogt) Dupra of Burke and her Fiancee Andrew Pryce, and her son James Vogt of West Chazy. Also, her five grandchildren Grace Dupra, Marilyn Pryce, Natasha Wolf, Anna Lee Davis, and William Davis. Also, her five nephews Danny, Shawn, and Bobby Bennett, Steven and Roy Henry Soderberg and her three nieces Anastasia Reil, Savanna Wilson and Jennifer Betteridge.

A Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 4, 2022 at Noon at Church of the Assumption in Redford, NY.

Donations in Karen’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
