Karen H Prevo

Karen H. Prevo (Seguin), 47, of the Miner Farm Road, Altona, died Friday May 29, 2015 at the UVM CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her family by her side. She was born on August 15, 1967 in Plattsburgh, New York, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Hemingway) Seguin. Karen's biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with her son Ryan. A loving mother, Karen devoted her entire life to the quality of life that she provided to her son. Aside from her son, Karen valued her family, friends, and coworkers. She would always go out of her way to help anyone, and always put others before herself. After the birth of her son, Karen completed her schooling and became a Registered Nurse where she spent 26 years helping those in need as a nurse at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY. She took a lot of pride in her work. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Karen went on to complete her Bachelor's and Master's Nursing Degrees while undergoing chemotherapy therapy. Upon earning her Master's degree, she received a promotion as the Trauma Manager in the Emergency Care Center. Just recently, she was chosen to fill a STAC seat which represents the Level III Trauma Centers in NY. During her free time Karen enjoyed spending quality time with her son, family and friends. An avid Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Braves fan, she enjoyed spending time watching games, reading her favorite books, time with friends, or spending time with her one and only true passion in life, her son. Karen did not lose the battle with cancer, she won. She beat cancer by living each and every day knowing her true purpose in life. To be a great nurse, loving daughter, true friend and the most amazing mother in the world anyone could ask for. She is predeceased by her grandparents Hazel and Dewey Hemingway of Sciota, NY and Helen and Peter Sequin Sr. of Ellenburg, NY. Karen is survived by her loving son Ryan Deyo of Clifton Park, NY, parents Peter and Mary Seguin of Altona, NY, sister Joann Seguin of Dannemora, NY, sister Kristy Trombley, and brother-in-law Derek Trombley of Sciota, NY. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Louis of France Cemetery in Sciota, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to be used for a Nursing Scholarship at Clinton Community College in Karen's name.
