Morrisonville
Karl Altmann, 88, of Timberline Dr., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Elderwood at Uihlein Lake Placid. He was born in Munich, Germany on July 8, 1931 the son of Joseph and Theresia (Blaimer) Altmann.
Karl immigrated to his “chosen country” in 1954. He learned English and joined the United States Air Force, finally reaching Plattsburgh Air Base where he met Velma Jennette; they were married March 28, 1959 at the Old Methodist Church in Rouses Point. Karl worked for Sheridan Ironworks as a machinist and was promoted to International Sales Representative which took him all over the world. He relocated with Harris Graphics to Dayton, OH for a time. Following, his retirement he volunteered at CVPH when he returned to Plattsburgh. The last 4 years he was plagued by Dementia, a horrible disease that steals which is most dear to us – our memories.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Velma.
He is survived by his daughter Theresa Richmond and her husband Richard who left everything to care for him, of Morrisonville, NY, his son, Richard Altman and his wife Tanya of Tacoma, WA his grandchildren; Sarah and Tirzah Richmond, Diana and Sophia Altman, his great-grandchildren Riley Cook and Haley Emrick, his sister Anna Marie, his brother Reinhardt, his sister-in-law Marcella Ives, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association or one’s animal rescue charity of choice.
