Katharina Covey

Beekmantown Katharina "Katie" Covey, 85 of Route 22 Beekmantown passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Osijk, Yugoslavia on September 23, 1926 the daughter of Ignaz and Katharina (Speiser) Hardt. Katie married Arthur M. Lafaive in 1954 in Germany. He predeceased her in 1964. She then married Duane R. Covey in 1969. He predeceased her in 2000. In her younger years, she and her husband Duane were very active riding snowmobiles. Her greatest passion in life was cooking. The more people that were at the table, the better Katie liked it. Katie worked for many years for College Auxiliary Services at the Valcour Conference Center. She was predeceased by her parents, her two husbands Arthur M. Lafaive and Duane R. Covey, her children Christopher and Camila, her siblings Anna, Stefan, Otto and Henrietta. Katie is survived by her children Steven Lafaive and his wife Lori of Plattsburgh and their children Alisen and Jonathan, Larry LaFaive of Beekmantown and his daughter Leann Santos and her husband Nathan, Carrie (Covey) Castine and her husband Gary of Beekmantown and their children Bobie Jo Proper and her husband Rob, Casey Perrone and her husband Kevin and Matthew Castine, great grandchildren; Austin, Alexander, Abigail, Nathan, Xavior and Ethan, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, West Chazy. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
