It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the death of Katherine Rose Filion: wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was born March 3, 1928 and left us on December 28, 2014 at the age of 86. All those fortunate enough to have known her will greatly miss her. She was known for her kindness, mildness and patience. During her lifetime she loved to read, crochet and knit. Both Rose (as she was known) and her husband Charles attended St. Peter's Church on a regular basis, often daily. Rose graduated from nursing school was employed at the Champlain Valley Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 43 years where she was the Children's Ward Supervisor; this shows us she had a love for children. Rose truly loved her family very deeply! Together Rose and Charles, married for 63 years, went on to raise four children and one grandson. Rose is predeceased by 2 of her children, Allen Filion and Bonne Lee Harris. Rose is survived by her husband Charles and two children; Jeanne McNally and her husband Dale of Pensacola, FL and John Filion of Plattsburgh, NY. Also surviving her are grandchildren Kerri Birdsall and her husband Nathan, Scott McNally and his wife Megan, Jennifer Moriarty and her husband Dan, Nathan Filion and Sara Baker and 8 great-grandchildren with one more to join our family in January. Also surviving her are numerous nieces and nephews and member of the Fields Family in Vergennes, VT. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, January 2, 2014 at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
