Kay Pasternak

March 27, 1942 — October 17, 2024

Kay “Pookie G” Pasternak passed away peacefully surrounded by love and live music on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, New York. Born in Syracuse, she spent most of her life in Schenectady before realizing her dream of living out her days in her beloved Adirondacks. Kay is survived by her sons Peter and Eric, her nephews Mark, Rob, Jim, Paul, Eddie, her grand-doggies Jack and Boop, her dear friends Doug, Steve, Edna, Tom and Maureen and countless other friends and admirers. She was a constant source of love, joy, warmth and kindness to all who knew her. She was a gifted musician, a pianist and harpist who studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston before answering the call to a life-long career of nursing, a profession so perfectly suited for such a nurturing and compassionate soul. She will be remembered for her generosity, her love of music, lobster, shopping and especially for her famous laugh, an infectious “snort” that was unstoppable once it got going. We will miss that laugh, but we will remember that laugh and all the joy she brought to this world. She is everywhere now and always with us. In lieu of formal services, a private party will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, gifts or condolences, go make someone’s day a little brighter. That’s what Kay always did.
