Kenneth W "Ken" Laplante

Morrisonville Mr. Kenneth W. "Ken" LaPlante, 93, of Mason Street in Morrisonville, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. He was born in Champlain, New York on August 20, 1917, the son of William and Nettie (Taylor) LaPlante. Ken retired from the D & H Railroad where he was a train man. He was a member of St. Alexander's Church, a Founding Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6067, the Bishop Wadhams 4th Degree Knights of Columbus where he served as Faithful Navigator and District Deputy. He was active at St. Alexander's Church and served on the bingo committee. Ken was a volunteer firefighter with Morrisonville Fire Department and served as councilman for the Town of Schuyler Falls. He will be remembered by his many acquaintances for his conversations and story telling. Ken was predeceased by his parents William and Nettie LaPlante, his wife Ellen LaPlante, a brother Arnold LaPlante and a sister Marion Quinn. He is survived by five children, Joanne Croteau and her husband, Edward of Rochester, Jacqueline Sweeney and her husband, Alfred of Enfield, Connecticut, William LaPlante and his wife, Carolyn of Cadyville, Kennethea Duprey and her husband, Robert of Wallingford, Connecticut, Barbara Cominsky and her husband, Kenneth of Warrenton, Virginia, a brother Claude LaPlante and his wife Marjorie of Florida, twelve grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Interment will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #6067 are asked to meet Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for services. Members of the Bishop Wadhams 4th Degree will provide an honor guard Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
