Kenneth L. Thompson On April 10, 2013, Kenneth Lee (Tipsy) Thompson died at home in Plattsburgh New York after suffering a short illness at the age of 66. Kenny enjoyed the simpler things in life such as conversation, smokes, cold beers, NASCAR, hunting deer and views of the lakes in the North Country. Born November 9, 1946, Kenny was a rough and tumble boy and actually served as an altar boy in the Lyon Mountain St. Bernard's Church and graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Marines in 1966. He served his country during the Vietnam War for two years, being discharged in 1968 with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon returning to the States, Kenny moved to Dutchess County, New York for employment; working for over 25 years as a developmental aid at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center. In 1971, Kenny married his (ex) wife Judy (Hurlburt) who survives in Wassaic, New York. Kenny is survived by three children: Jennifer Lee Jaynes, Stephanie Lee Murphy (husband Andrew), and Terry Lee Thompson (wife Jen); six grandchildren: Patrick Jaynes, Jesse Jaynes, Connor Jaynes, Emily Thompson, Noah Thompson and Logan Thompson; and one great granddaughter: Aurora Lee Jaynes, all of Dutchess County, New York. Kenny returned home to the North Country around 1996 where he revived his close relationships with his parents Frances Marie (Hamlin) until her death in 2005 and his father Alvin Levy's death in 2008. Left to mourn their brother are his siblings: Alvin Skeeter' (wife Barbara), Cheryl Johnson, Vicki Biggs (husband Ben), Glenn and Scott. Kenny is survived by Aunts Connie, Gert and Jeannie, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He entrusted his life and home with his good friend, Tina Kendrick, who was like a daughter to him. There will be no calling hours. A military service will be at Noon, Saturday April 20, 2012 with a memorial reception to follow inside at American Legion Post #1619 on 219 Rand Hill Road, West Plattsburgh, NY 12962. Donations may be made in Kenny's name to the American Legion Post in Plattsburgh. The Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY is managing disposition of Kenny.
